1. Installation environment

  • Inverter is a form of power electronic equipment, so the installation environment greatly affects the operation of this type of equipment. 2. Wrong specification

  • Choosing the wrong inverter specifications is one of the leading causes of inverter failure and failure rates. Each type of inverter will have different operating characteristics for different load applications or environments according to the manufacturer’s published standards. If you choose not according to technical standards, the life of the inverter will be very low.
  • For example, some light-duty inverters run for fan pumps, but you attach them to a very heavy load, which of course leads to very low durability of the inverter. In some other cases, using inverters with too small capacity or close to the load also makes the inverter durability very low.

3. Improper operation

  • The subjective cause of failure of the inverter can also be due to the subjectivity of the technician or the machine operator. In some cases, the inverter shows an error warning that the user intentionally resets the error to run, which will make the damage more serious and difficult to fix.
  • The high failure rate of the inverter can also be caused by incorrect operation or incorrect parameter settings, leading to an explosion of the inverter during use. For example, the motor has not opened the brake, but the inverter has output voltage to the motor.

4. Quality and price

  • Currently on the market there are dozens of inverter brands with many different prices. These types of inverters with super cheap prices, 30-60% lower than some equivalent types of the same origin, should lead to the source of components used inside with incorrect capacity or poor quality goods. When you buy this type and use it for only a few months, there will be errors and damage.
  • With some Chinese inverters with a capacity of 5.5kW 380v only costing from 2-3 million, this is a low quality line that is only suitable for running in a short time, if it runs a lot and continuously, it will explode often.

5. Failing to completely fix the cause of the previous two inverters’ failure

  • There are cases where the user, after replacing the inverter several times in the correct position, fails after a short time. The reason for this problem comes from two sides:
    • One is that the user does not provide enough information and how the old equipment is damaged to the supplier so that they can have a more effective remedy and replacement plan.
    • It is also possible that this error comes from the unit selling the inverter with weak capacity and inexperience, so it is not possible to completely overcome the cause of the inverter’s fault.
    • There are also some other causes that can be mentioned such as: Due to reverse wiring of the input and output wires of the inverter, due to explosion of IGBT rectifier, due to lightning, due to incorrect circuit settings, faulty power supply local shock, protection time, etc.
